Construction Trades

About the Class

The construction industry is booming in the Pacific Northwest!  This is visible by the number of cranes in urban areas as well as residential growth throughout our communities.  Because of this development, there is a high demand for a skilled workforce in the construction and related industries.

The mission of the Construction Trades program at Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center is to prepare students to gain employment, apprenticeship, and/or acceptance to post-secondary education in the field of Construction Trades. Meanwhile, develop contributing members of our community and life-long learners who are ready to adapt to an ever-changing workforce and global marketplace.

Meet the Instructor

Jen Stutz

Jen Stutz is the instructor of the Construction Trades program and comes to Sno-Isle TECH from industry, with a background in architecture, interior design, project management, as well as home remodeling projects. Her most recent design and job site experience includes many new and remodeled healthcare facilities throughout the northwest.  Jen takes pride in creating environments that positively  affect daily lives of others, and she promotes a high level of collaboration among team members as well as trades within the industry. Thrilled to be a part of the awesome Sno-Isle Tech community, Jen is excited that her current design-build team consists of students ready to gain experience in Construction Trades.

The Construction Trades program is designed to provide students with the technical skills necessary for entry-level trades positions and includes a strong emphasis on job site safety. This course also focuses on developing professionalism and highly-employable traits and characteristics. Skills and knowledge are cultivated using hands-on activities, project-based learning, field trips, and guest speakers in order to meet rigorous academic and industry standards.

If this sounds interesting, take a moment to watch the video profile and check out some of the pictures of my students working.  Thank you for your interest in Construction Trades; I look forward to meeting you at an upcoming Open House event or during our student interviews in the spring!
