Marilyn Pyles

I have been a nurse for 34 years, having worked at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, an oncologist’s office, a walk -in clinic, a surgery center in the operating room, and a wound clinic. It has been a fascinating journey. The majority of my nursing career (20 years) has been in the operating room at a day surgery center. I specialized in plastic surgery and orthopedics, but I assisted in a variety of procedures from putting tubes in children’s ears, to assisting in laser surgery for removal of kidney stones. Everyday was different and I loved it.

What I love about this program is offering students a chance to learn about healthcare careers  they may not have even known about, and giving them a foothold into an industry that offers stability, flexibility, a good salary with benefits, daily variety, and personal satisfaction. CNA’s work in an array of settings, and not only at skilled nursing homes. CNA’s are needed in hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities, home health care and other places.

I am thrilled to be teaching students the art and science of caring for others.
