Job Description

Universal Forest Products is the leading supplier of wood and wood alternative products in the U.S. In Washington we produce industrial packaging/shipping products. We are currently seeking hard working assemblers to add to our growing team. *Position is performed outside/undercover. Workers are exposed to inclement weather*

Shift: 6am start time (shift goes until work is finished, sometimes working up to 10 hour days)

Starting pay: $14.00 + DOE

Position Overview

Builder/Assembler is responsible for fabricating component parts or assembling the finished product according to the customer specifications.

Duties/Responsibilities:
•Secures and maintains correct component parts and supplies required for production
•Completes work area set up
•Fits parts together in accordance with prescribed manner and in accordance with quality standards
•Operates hand tools as required to complete assembly process (nail gun, staple gun, drill etc.)
•Stacks completed products in accordance with established procedures, and if required, may cover, label and band components/finish product
•Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized, and that equipment is safe to operate
•Completes pre-shift/startup equipment inspection checklist and reports any problems or concerns
•Maintains a clean and orderly work environment
•Maintains production records as required
•Performs quality assurance checks on "work in progress" and finished products to ensure compliance with standards
•Performs duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards
•Participates in safety programs and meetings
•Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:
•Basic understanding of mathematics
•No minimum experience is required; however 6 months of manufacturing and assembling experience is preferred
•Ability to recognize size/grade/quality of material
•Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
•Ability to use and operate hand tools
•Ability to stack material properly
•Ability to identify safety issues in their work area, and notice equipment malfunctions
•Ability to understand basic verbal and written instructions in English
•Ability to accurately read a tape measure
•Ability to troubleshoot nail guns and other similar hand held equipment
•Ability to work over time "after hours" and on Saturdays

Preferred Qualifications:
•Knowledge and ability to read blueprints and schematics
•Knowledge and experience with saws, nail guns, drills, and pneumatic tools
•Ability to accurately read a tape measure
•Framing and carpentry experience a HUGE plus

Position will require bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting/carrying over 50 lbs. pushing/pulling, twisting, standing and walking.
