Criminal Justice

Sno-Isle TECH Criminal Justice students explore a wide variety of careers in law enforcement and the criminal justice system. Guest speakers from various career fields expose students to the many different career opportunities in criminal justice. Field trips will allow students to visit locations where they can see how jobs function to maintain the criminal justice system. Students who successfully complete this program can earn up to 10 college credits from EVCC’s College in the High School program, at a cost of approximately $220.

Subjects include Introduction to Criminal Justice and Criminal Investigations. Students will have the unique opportunity to engage in the practical application of police tactics including defensive tactics, weapons defense, handcuffing, lethal and non-lethal weapon application, crime scene investigations, fingerprinting, evidence processing and collection, as well as subject contact and investigations. Student assessments consist of skill demonstrations and mock scenarios that simulate police incidents which officers respond to every day. Students accepted into this program must display an above average level of maturity and integrity.

Myron Travis has taught at Shoreline Community College and Everett Community College in conjunction with full time police work. He is passionate about education and considers it a privilege to teach and mentor young students. He joins Sno-Isle TECH with more than 36 years of law enforcement experience. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and after being honorably discharged he began his law enforcement career with the Detroit Police Department in 1985. ​

Myron Travis worked various assignments and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1999. He supervised street investigations and developed police response initiatives to crime analysis data and crime trends. His awards include Officer of the Year, a Life Saving Medal, two (2) Departmental Citations, and three (3) Departmental Commendations. After retiring from the Detroit Police Department, he joined the Mukilteo Police Department and served as the department’s Crime Prevention Officer and Public Information Officer. He joins us after retiring from the Mukilteo Police Department in 2021.​

Myron Travis earned his Bachelor’s degree from University of Michigan-Dearborn with high distinction and has a minor in Sociology. He is a member of The Golden Key International Honor Society and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives-Washington Chapter (NOBLE).
