Job Description

Position Overview
This position is primarily responsible for the daily set-up and operation of hydraulic CNC controlled press brakes in a precision sheet metal fabrication shop. He/she may be required to assist other employees as a helper on key work or machines as required by the work schedule.

Essential Job Functions
1. Operate CNC press brakes.
2. Set-up and run complex bend set-ups and forming operations. This includes custom punch/die modification used in combination with other tooling.
3. Complex programming using all features of the press brakes. E.g. bending angles, step bends, proper back gauge transfer between steps, delays, etc.
4. Perform quality inspections while maintaining the production process so that quality output is achieved insuring sufficient parts of acceptable quality is produced to fulfill the order.
5. Perform assigned work to time standards and quality expectations.
6. Organize parts and prepare them for the next process.
7. Expedite priority work orders as required in cooperation with the Production Supervisor.
8. Account for time and work completed via online computer data collection system.
Competencies
1. Level I:
a. Thorough understanding of flat pattern layout.
b. Understand print reading and geometric tolerances and how they relate to the finished part.
c. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
d. Performs a variety of tasks working under general supervision.
e. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
f. Computer Literate.
g. Excellent organizational skills with a mathematical aptitude and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
h. Strong orientation toward safety, quality and continuous improvement.
2. Level II – in addition to those listed in Level I, Level II must have:
a. Acquired secondary fabrication skill (brake, punch, laser, fork lift).
b. Capable of performing FAI.
3. Level III – in addition to those listed in Levels I and II, Level III must have:
a. 2nd acquired secondary fabrication skill (weld, punch, laser, fork lift).
b. Quality Control certified inspection stamp holder.
Supervisory Responsibility
1. N/A

Work Environment
1. Office 0% Production/Warehouse floor 100%

Physical Demands
1. Ability to lift, pull or push up to 50 lbs.; anything over 50 lbs. is to be assisted.
2. Be on your feet 8-10 hours per day.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
1. Full Time.
2. Monday-Thursday 5:00 am- 3:30 pm ( 4 – 10 hour shifts)

Required Education and Experience
1. Level I
a. High school graduate/GED.
b. <1 years’ experience.
2. Level 2
a. High school graduate/GED.
b. 1-4 years’ experience.
3. Level 3
a. High school graduate/GED.
b. 4+ years’ experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
1. Vocational Training in Metal Fabrication.
2. Specific training in Brake Press.
