Pay Scale: $19.23 – $24.04 Hourly

Mon – Fri, 8am-5pm

• Candidates must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application
• High School graduate or equivalent (GED)
• Minimum 3-5 years full-time experience as a mechanic, with commensurate ASE certifications.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with an interstate Class B CDL and medical card (Class A must be obtained within 180 days of employment)
• An insurable driving record
• Successfully pass drug screening and comprehensive background review prior to hiring
• Basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet use, and other various software
Highly Desirable Qualifications:
• Previous experience as a Journey Mechanic (3-5 years)
• ASE Truck
• ASE Automotive
• Electronic diagnostic experience
• Basic welding and fabrication skills
• Proficient with both low and high voltage circuits
Duties of the Position:
This is a 32-40 hour per week, non-exempt position reporting to, and working with, and/or independently, under the direct supervision of the EVT and/or the Assistant Chief – Fleet & Facilities. The position encompasses a variety of duties and responsibilities that ensure that the work being completed supports the operational readiness of the department. The EVT Mechanic Assistant will be responsible to maintain, and make necessary repairs of various vehicles in the fleet and associated department equipment. The position may be shared with another agency or make repairs under contract to multiple agencies. This position will manage the maintenance program which requires a high level of working knowledge of vehicle systems. The central purpose of this position is to ensure that the department’s apparatus and equipment receive necessary care, repair, and maintenance to protect and extend the useful life and service of these capital assets.
