The Concept Model Developer is responsible for prototype fabrication that supports product development. This includes working with engineering and the Principal Concept Model Developer to bring a product from idea/concept through design, prototyping, development, testing, design verification and validation, manufacturing, and product introduction. Other duties include attending design reviews and brainstorming meetings. This individual will also be responsible for the maintenance of the machines and tools including calibration, scheduled maintenance, and routine servicing. Additionally, this individual is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment throughout the prototype shop.
Setup and operate CNC and manual milling machines and lathes
Program and machine parts from multiple materials and setups including, but not limited to, ABS,
Aluminum, Brass, PC, Tooling Foam, and Steel.
Fabricate prototype models based on verbal instructions, sketches or CAD data using 3 axis vertical milling machines, manual lathes, 3D printers, and other machines including band saw, drill press, etc.
Work with the Principal and Senior Concept Model Developers to construct tools, molds, and fixtures, to support Engineering and production goals.
Perform routine maintenance and servicing of machines to ensure smooth, trouble-free operation.
Maintain clean and safe work environment by regular cleaning and upkeep
2 plus years working as a model maker in a machine shop environment
Basic knowledge of Manufacturing, Fabrication, and Assembly
Capable of working in a deadline-driven environment
Able to prioritize activities with some supervision
Able to change from project to project as needed due to changing priorities
Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement

Ability to participate in a problem-solving culture and work from general procedures and policy with supervision.
Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Office.

Experience with precision measurement equipment
Proficient in math
CAM programming with industry-standard software
Experience working in a highly regulated industry
Familiarity with 3D printing and equipment (FDM and Multi-jet)
PTC ProE/CREO CAD/CAM, Windchill
Model finishing sanding, painting, and detailing
Working knowledge of safety protocols
Operation of portable CMM arm
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Machine Shop environments, including CNC machines, manual mills and lathes, 3d printers and various hand tools.
Office cubicles inside of shop
May require movement of objects (up to 40 pounds)
Up to 10% travel may be required
Occasional overtime required
