The Opportunity

UCI specializes in design engineering, gear manufacturing and complex assemblies for a worldwide clientele.The Role Processes all outgoing shipments of goods and materials. Determine carrier in accordance to the region and customer requirements. Assure appropriate resources are available within the department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accurately package, label, and weigh items to be shipped. Ensure proper shipping method and charges are being used to meet customer criteria and deadlines.
• Practice positive customer service when interacting with internal or external customers.
• Ensure all shipments are properly labeled and packaged to arrive safely.
• Support logistics team with additional tasks such as cycle counts and receiving.
• Safely load and unload product using forklift when necessary.
• Verify quantity, batch number, and part number of outgoing parts to the packing slip or purchase order.
• Prepare outgoing parts for shipment according to customer purchase order or organization policy; to include part marking, oiling, bagging, and packaging requirements.
• Package parts for Outside Services to ensure no handling damages. Give work orders to Purchasing to release Service Purchase Orders.
• Participate in 5s and lean manufacturing activities.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

Competencies:
• Communicate effectively, both written and verbal,

• Able to handle more than one task at a time, making sure that each task is followed through completion.

Education/Experience:
• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 1 to 2 years inventory, shipping, and receiving related experience
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses:
Forklift certification (Provided by Company)

Computer Skills:
• Ability to use data-collection hardware and software and translate collected data into meaningful results.
• Must also have proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, and Word).

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals.

The job duties that are affected by the environmental conditions are of a typical factory and product manufacturing environment and its equipment including occasionally noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Safety glasses and safety shoes are required when on the shop floor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
