Trade & Industry

Welding & Metal Fabrication

The Welding and Metal Fabrication class is an industry based shop environment designed for the student who would like to receive a general metal working background as a foundation for continuing education or a trade-vocational career. Welding, fabrication and safety are taught with a blend of lecture, assignments and hands-on competencies that maintain the student’s interest and foster a deeper appreciation of the trade.

This one/two year program can “SPARK” an interest in the trade of welding and metal fabrication. Students work in a classroom and shop environment developing skills in many types of welding: stick, wire feed, heli-arc, flux core, etc., plus oxy fuel cutting and basic fabrication. Successful students in this program can also earn up to 30 college credits through the EvCC Dual Credit Program.

Learn to take pride in your work as you are signing your name with every weld. The welding team keys to success consist of having a good attitude, a desire to work hard and be able to focus on the job at hand; skills every employer values. Please stop in at Open House or come take a tour of our welding/metal fabrication shop when campus is open!

Hi I am Bob Throndsen, Instructor for the Welding Program. I was raised by parents who owned one of those cool old service stations in the Magnolia District of Seattle. Yes, I was one of those 4 guys who ran out to the pump island to service one car! I trained as a mechanic, but was bitten by the Welding bug. I worked a few jobs that required both skills, but settled on my love of street rods and opened my own business of fabricating custom street rod frames and parts in 1981. I still work in my shops during my off hours from Sno-Isle TECH. I take pride in my work, and every weld is my signature; this is what I want to foster in my students. When not working with students, I can be found with a fly pole in my hand, driving one of my street rods, camping with family, or working in my shops.
